Paladins could benefit from their healing touch being able to remove conditions like Paralyze, and possibly being able to use the ability more than once based on Leadership and level.

This is not a bad idea.

Ninjas would be nice if they could use Mage spells.. as it stands there doesn't seem to be a need for them since they don't seem to have any particular thing that makes them different.. having a thief and a samurai covers everything and then some. I still use ninjas, but I'm strange. :P

There are a lot of classes which already have magic spells, I am not sure about adding another. Let me think about it. Is there any other Ninja perk that you can think of instead?

Glad you approve of the Paladin idea! As you may remember, I really am fond of the silly things, esp. Dwarf ones. ^^ (speaking of, I found a Dwarven Hammer! Lunhilde, my current Dwarf Pally, is now proudly mashing her foes with it. =) )

I've been thinking about Ninjas since your reply, and I have an idea:

Instead of the Swing to Kill ability, allow a Ninja to perform a melee strike from the rear. I figure that it could do less damage than a normal "Fight" strike, but have an increasing chance of doing critical hits as level raises.

What do you think of this one, John? It could work! =)

Interesting idea. I can't see allowing them to strike from any position (what would keep you from filling your party with Ninjas?), but perhaps a Ninja could strike via melee from the 3rd position only. It seems like if we allow that, then they would need to be vulnerable to melee attack as well. Ninjas are pretty useless right now, let me think about it.

I have also thought about adding ranged weapons, which perhaps only a Ninja could use. Of course, some monsters would have to get ranged weapons as well to make it fair.

You can combine the ideas as well: giving Ninjas the ability to do a single low damage/increased crit%/(low accuracy?) strike from only the third or fourth row. And if a person fills their entire party with Ninjas.. well.. then I suppose healing would be in short supply, and magic in general.. which could be painful. But really, to each their own; I'm sure there are people that are playing with nothing but Elf Priests (boooo-ring!). Of course, Ninja monsters can do the same as well! Heheh.

Ranged weapons would complicate things for now.. but are worth considering.

John,

I know this is digging back a bit, but I took a short break from leveling my main team and decided to level some of the "lesser" classes.

I agree that the Paladin needs... something... its a pretty hard exp hit for plate and swords compared to the Priest. Even in their end-game weapons, the priest weapon can be considered better/less situational... The "Touch" would be a lot more useful if you could use it more often (ie. once a floor) and in combat. I understand people might exploit it, so that might be difficult. I have my Paladin up around 50, hes fun, but a liability on the front line... even with a +3 shield, +5 plate, Platinum Ring, Holy Sword and Protect Party, he can be two shot by Titans. I should say that he is also an Elf and his max HP is 395 right now, but with that much gear, he should be able to go toe to toe IMO. So... In my party, when we go dungeon diving, he is always relegated to the third slot, in case one of my Samurai (who can actually fight Titans better NAKED than my Paladin) takes a random spell and takes a little dirt nap.

Ninja's, on the other hand, have been screwed. Compared to a thief... they take an EXP hit, pick locks worse and lose seduce (if a female)... all for a VERY minimal HP boost, like 1 point a level. How can you make the Ninja better? Simple... allow him to use Mage/Sage scrolls and gems. The traditional Ninja's were known to have some touch with the mystical (disappearing) and alchemical (poisons). This would solve the range problem you were thinking about, and they would have to still find the scrolls... Also, Mages have two endgame weapons, Ninjas have none. Allow the Ninja's to use all the daggers to include Ligne. They start out being able to use the normal one anyways. Besides... some of these spells are available for all classes to use through other endgame items. The only issue I see with this is the Ninja's ungodly fast AGI, but that hopefully would be offset with the low INT.

Hopefully this might be the direction your were looking for, if not... I got to talk about this wonderful game a bit. =)
