Only human Rangers?

Hey guys - I've been playing Oub since about 1984 on the C64, and am very excited to see a new release, especially one so true to the home-computer versions released in the early 80's.

I'm concerned about something I read in another post.... only humans can be Rangers? I have not rolled one up yet as I'm still nurturing a 'springboard' party, but I'm accustomed to using a lot of elven Rangers at the lower levels.

Was this a typo or have you introduced this change to the game? If you *have* introduced it, would you please consider removing the racial restriction in a future update? It's always fun trying to cultivate an orc ranger or heaven forbid even a kobold just for kicks.

I am not sure about the C64 version, but in the original multiplayer version (developed in 1977 at the University of Illinois), only Humans could be Rangers. The main reason for this was that since the Ranger is the best class in the game, we wanted it to be difficult to roll. It is simply too easy to roll an Elf Ranger.

Oh, you jest! With 15 con? Elves take forever to roll naturally (assuming no books etc to raise stats before guild). I actually have a slightly easier time rolling human Rangers, but you're the boss ;)

The requirements are: STR: 12, INT: 14, WIS: 14, LDR: 14, CON: 15 and DEX:12.
